ABOUT CLICKED

The modern news consumer ignores Weblogs and online citizen journalism at his own peril. But not everyone has the time to keep track of what's going on the Web. With this blog we hope to track the highlights of what's being discussed online so when news breaks from the Web, we're ready.

Will Femia is a Weblog enthusiast who, through good fortune and dumb luck, was introduced to the form as his position as chat producer for MSNBC.com careered into obsolescence. On any given day, Will can be found having already spent an unhealthy amount of time squinting at a computer screen.

Not so lonely girl

Posted: Tuesday, August 29, 2006 12:43 AM by Will Femia

Speaking of prominent arts blogs, remember the Lonelygirl15 story I mentioned last month?  Businessweek's Jon Fine has gone through considerble effort to find out what the real story is.  While there aren't many real answers, he at least figured out that it is, in fact, a performance.

Hey, Will. This is nice, you got your own place now and a lot easier to track with your very own RSS feed!
Love your blog. HATE the new format.
Why don't your links open in new windows or tabs anymore?  That was a nice feature.
Will:
Like the new look of Clicked...but really liked the old way that links opened in a new window.  Any chance of going back to that.
Will - I'm not really sure where to put this since it isn't realated to this post, but I really liked how your links would open in a new window before. The links in your entries on this new platform are opening in the same window.  Maybe I'm in the minority, but do you have the ability to change back to the old way?
There's gotta be a way to open the links in a new window.  There's no obvious preset option in the tool, but I'll play around and see if I can add a target="new" tag of some kind.
Will, nice layout, but I second Robert's motion to insert target="_blank" or whatever into your links, open in new window was a priceless feature on the old site.
I love the fact that you have an RSS feed now, but I'm a little wigged out about the organization.  It seems a little disconnected.

Keep up the good work Will!
I like the new look.  I've been using the "Open in new window," function found on the menu that pops up after right clicking a link.
I'll keep reading Clicked no matter where it is...

Keep up the good work.

And if you want to launch a new window, just right click and launch it in Explorer or in Firefox to a new tab. This is a matter of taste, too. Some like to launch new windows, some like to just use the back button to get back here.

So, if you can't right-click, you must acquit!
One issue I have is that with multiple sections per day it's a little harder to remember where I last left off. But that's not really too big a big deal. What is funny though is you're going to have to change your catch phrase "Speaking of." Doesn't work as well when "Speaking of" comes before (ie. above) what you're...speaking of.
Ditto on the "Open New Page" thingy. Please bring it back.
Will-

Love the new site! Like the concept of more, shorter posts, (I will hold judgment until you been in the groove for a while to see how it pans out in practice.) Also, I like the interaction of having comments. If you get the 'new window' thing worked out, it will be perfect.
Use Firefox.  Right click a link, select "Open in new tab". Simple. Done.

"Friends don't let friends use IE"
I like the new format, it will take a little getting used to, but I agree with the preference for links opening in new windows.  Keep up the good work!
Will, do this:

{a target="_blank" href="http://www.google.com"}Google{/a}

(obviously substitute the { } for the proper tag enclosing charaters.  If this post gets the tags stripped so you can't read it --- in your a href tag, include this: target="_blank"
Will,
Love the new look. One more vote for opening links in new window.
and maybe it's just cause this is a new format, but I'm finding it hard to like the new way of splitting the entry up. Maybe it's better and I'll grow into it.

Anyway, keep up the good work. Oh and make the font for the entry headlines smaller please (you asked for critiques on the new blog. :-))
Guys, guys. If you're on Firefox, CTRL + click. IE7, has the same function, too.
Yup, PLEASE get the links opening in a new window again.  THANKS!
S!m and Dave, I'm having a bit of a struggle with posting in pieces as well.  Even though it didn't always look like it, there was a bit of structure to the old long posts that I can't maintain when I post one thing at a time.  Eventually I have to figure out how to pitch a headline to the cover so I can get some attention on the site, so I'm going to have to get better at grouping at least some of the links thematically.

John, I'm liking the comment feature already.

Ajin, you're right, I'm screwed with the "speaking of" catch phrase.  If you read from the top down you get to the speaking of before you get to the speaking.
