ABOUT CLICKED

The modern news consumer ignores Weblogs and online citizen journalism at his own peril. But not everyone has the time to keep track of what's going on the Web. With this blog we hope to track the highlights of what's being discussed online so when news breaks from the Web, we're ready.

Will Femia is a Weblog enthusiast who, through good fortune and dumb luck, was introduced to the form as his position as chat producer for MSNBC.com careered into obsolescence. On any given day, Will can be found having already spent an unhealthy amount of time squinting at a computer screen.

Something wicked this way comes

Posted: Monday, July 23, 2007 10:20 AM by Will Femia

There's something funny about spending the weekend reading Harry Potter and then turning on the local weather report to hear the weather man use words like "rare" and "unusual" to describe the out-of-nowhere heavy rains we're getting. The storm arrived with a gust of wind that knocked picture frames off window sills and slammed a door in our apartment. My wife sent me out of the bedroom to investigate the noise.  I did so with wand drawn.

I can relate to that.  I spent the weekend reading the last book and watching the new movie.  My favorite part of the movies is hearing the pronunciation of the spells so I can yell them (silently) at people who tick me off.
That's funny that you write about the weather report, because this weekend I heard one that claimed "Winds are coming from the South; not very breezy, though."  Must be Harry-related, because otherwise "not-breezy winds" is utterly nonsensical.
As I figured, it was only a matter of time before it was on Scribd.   http://www.scribd.com/doc/201604/Harry-Potter-and-the-Deathly-Hallows-complete-book

Now it gives me a way of reading at work, while leaving my copy at home.
Man, we could do with some of the rain - perhaps you can send it our way!

The last Harry book was excellent - saw the latest movie the day before, too. All I will say is that the last Harry Potter movie is going to kick ass, and I can't wait to see some of the scenes from the book on the big screen!
Hi Will,

It's very hard not to get a wrong picture in the head when one reads: "My wife sent me out of the bedroom to investigate the noise.  I did so with wand drawn."
Also, wasn't it also unusually misty? Hmmm...dementor love. Too bad we can't conjure up a Patronas.
Who decides which books get press (Harry Potter) and which get censored? After all, censorship is becoming America's favorite past-time. The US gov't (and their corporate friends), already detain protesters, ban books like "America Deceived" from Amazon and Wikipedia, shut down Imus and fire 21-year tenured, BYU physics professor Steven Jones because he proved explosives, thermite in particular, took down the WTC buildings. Free Speech forever (especially for books).
