ABOUT CLICKED

The modern news consumer ignores Weblogs and online citizen journalism at his own peril. But not everyone has the time to keep track of what's going on the Web. With this blog we hope to track the highlights of what's being discussed online so when news breaks from the Web, we're ready.

Will Femia is a Weblog enthusiast who, through good fortune and dumb luck, was introduced to the form as his position as chat producer for MSNBC.com careered into obsolescence. On any given day, Will can be found having already spent an unhealthy amount of time squinting at a computer screen.

That Kobe Bryant car jumping video

I call fake. I don't doubt that he can jump that high but there's no way he'd risk it. Even if he would I imagine there'd be insurance lawyers tackling him to the pavement and throwing themselves in front of the car.

I call viral advertising.
I'm not sure - its borderline whether its real or not.  I think he has the jumping ability, or pretty close!  Though it would be pretty easy to fake - note the still camera: record the jump, then record the car, and combine the two.
Seems at least a BAD IDEA.  Though I think people have been doing/trying this on YouTube already - I think it was with skateboards?
It is a perspective trick, watch his shadow, it appears on the SIDE of the car, there for he is between the car and the camera.  He did jump, but it probably took many takes to get the timing correct
I have to agree with you, Will. I call fake, too.

The way he comes down out of the air is a little odd, like he comes down a little fast or something. I can't tell exactly, but it just looks like something isn't quite right.
if you pause it when hes crouched and look at his left foot you can tell he is in a fake environment...probably blue/green screen
its not perspective, it's not two seperate videos....sort of. it's a green screen. i do this stuff for a living and its very easy to tell. pause it as the car is under him and you can tell.
Fake or not..I still like the stunt and for the record we all know its shaky but kobe can really get up that high seen it several times in person
This is a fake. Why just look at the angles of the shadows cast by the car and Kobe and the light pole. Kobe and the light pole have identical angles. The cars show is quite different. Therefore the jump was not filmed at the same time as the car.. The whole thing is a bit  of digital magic.
that was real. go kobe
mvp
dominated the whole nba
i drove the car i was there
my friend was the big black guy his name is joey :)
Oh my God!
Imagine if this was Jackass.  There would be calls for boycotts of Nike, Fox News pundits would be in a rage over the 'thrill seeking' culture of our youth, parents would be demanding that Kobe act like a role-model and he would be apologizing on Larry King.
ya bitch ass niggas need to top hattin
Reebok used this gag in a Super Bowl commercial maybe nine or ten years ago. There's nothing fresh or creative about it. Doesn't anyone else remember every commercial they've ever seen?
its tite
either way
ppl make fake commercials breaking god damn metal backboards and jumping from the half court line to endorse sprite and video games
y cant kobe do it 2 endorse a shoe
