begun colliding particles yet...not for several months to a year.  We have until then to enjoy life.

How do they really know that nothing bad will happen during the collision? Even the most intelligent people are sometimes wrong. And what gives a group of scientists the right to risk the lives of others. Why hasn't anyone stepped in to stop them until they can quantify the risk?! Am I just being crazy, or are they being irresponsible?

All I can say about the experts who say nothing catastrophic will happen....you can only be wrong about something like that once.  

They say the black holes they produce if any, will be microscopic in size, with microscopic energy/power.  OK fine. But ummm dont they grow by eating? Don't most things start off small? then grow? Or am I missing something? Even if they say its only a Trillion to one chance we could Be gobbled up, well May I remind you the stakes are the same for the lotto, but people do win those trillion to one odds.  Im afraid that God will be waiting for us beyond the last theorem.

I hear that a black hole can make me thinner in an instant. At least I can go out looking great!

To die via Black Hole, would be the most painful and horrifying death you can imagine. It doesnt suck you in, or pull your limbs apart. It rips you apart by your Atoms. Your atoms are totally torn apart. It may just be the most painful way to go. You dont just "FALL" in a vacuum and become Swept away. Scientists have said that the collider CAN produce them, in microscopic size, and science has proven that they can grow, the universe and telescopes teach us that.  I dont see how 1000 scientists have the right to play with the lives of the human race.
Not to mention the stranglets it would produce, if your not sure what that is, you can wiki it. Pretty crazy stuff. If something goes wrong there, you have about an hour to live, it would soon gooble the next door planets as well and eventually even our sun would be goobled up, but hey! Lets go atom smashing and see what trouble we can start!

This whole thing is such a gamble.  Nothing is 100% guaranteed to work beyond a shadow of a doubt with the exception of taxes and death. Why could not the scientists do this big bang experiment on another planet?  At least, it would not endanger everyone's life on this planet.  What are they thinking?!

what is everyone worried about, we are all going to die anyway....its a part of life! atleast this way we can all go out with a "BIG BANG"

the same process they're generating in that giant tunnel is the same resulting collision that happens in our earth's atmosphere everyday...we just haven't been able to see it...hence the reactor.

Oh my God. Friggin hilarious responses. I saw someone write that they were instantly being gobbles up, saw some "MIT Graduate" act as if he actually knows what is going on with the help of WIKIPEDIA. How reliable. Anyways yeah, there is a possibility that black holes could arise BUT it would be so microscopic that they would vanish instantaneously. But seriously reading all your comments has made my night, thanks for the humour :D.
