With regards to washing keyboards: one of the guys in our tech department does it all the time and has a 60% sucess rate for those old cruddy keyboards coming out clean and functioning.

I work in a high school tv studio, and I find that vhs head cleaner and a q tip will clean a keyboard right up. we use it on our editing stations all the time. Kids hands are really dirty.

I don't get the "men are pigs until they buy our brand of condom" ad. They're still pigs, just pigs with rubbers. If a guy's a pig because he wants to sleep with a woman with no consequences or strings attached, with no love or romance, then buying a condom in the bathroom doesn't change his porcine nature!

I agree with Hodgeman about the homoerotic undertones of mma. If I were gay, It would be even more fun to watch. But as I am not, (or only 49%) I still think it is the greatest sport going...drops all the false pretenses of other sports like football (stylized abstractions of actual fighting) and is the purest distillation of courage, heart and determination out there. The combatants are largely educated, honorable athletes with profound respect for each other and the martial arts they study...

as an avid(and 27 year old) WoW player, I have to say that I agree with how jarring the experience can be when someone who is much more experienced with the game and has spent several hours helping you out and showing you some tricks turns out to be DECADES younger then you. Its very devitalizing to have your brain try to switch from just assuming that age = experience, or that age = authority. I've also had it work the other way when I find that someone I've been playing with is elderly, I have trouble wrapping my brain around that as well.

It's silly to ban the commercials--they aren't that graphic. And if a man is a pig for wanting un-obligated sex, a lot of women are pigs too. Aren't we all adult enough that we can stop calling people pigs, put on the condoms, and just relax about life a little?

Hmmm... speaking strictly from experience "on the street" I'd say that's a HUGE exaggeration. There are times when the cynical side of me would say it's more like 300 to 600. Years ago I decided to stop dumbing down my vocabulary and either let 'em look it up for themselves or stay in the dark.

I don't understand how people can condone painting bike lanes on roads. A lot of streets, especially in urban areas, aren't comfortably wide enough for automobile traffic let alone that and bikes. Illegally painting arbitrary lines on roads that are unsafe to bikes due to width, parking, blind intersections, etc. won't make cyclists any safer. In fact, it probably puts them more at risk because of a false sense of safety.

As an aside, I think a lot of drivers' distaste for bikes from from the attitude the majority of cyclists seem to exhibit; there's a sense that they believe "only the traffic laws that benefit me apply". I frequently see bikes going against the flow of traffic (bikes should go the same way as cars), "jaywalking" red lights (even if there's no traffic coming, cars can't go through red lights, and neither can bikes). I also almost ran one over recently because I was in a left-turn-only lane with my signal on, and when the light changed, a biker passed me on the left. It seems like at least once a week I see dangerous and/or antisocial behavior by cyclists. Not to say that I don't see 10 times that by other car drivers, but two wrongs...

When the majority of bikers follow *all* the traffic laws and stop putting themselves and others in danger with typically egocentric behavior, drivers will start having more respect for them.

However, it is interesting to me that many men I know, like Alan (Sent Friday, June 22, 2007 11:53 AM), claim that most men are pigs. Are these men all brainwashed or is the stereotype somewhat accurate?

Yes, Dee, surely your answer to your own question is the only possiblity and the only conclusion is that I have an inner piggy.

It wouldn't have anything to do with the fact that she blogs with a man's name and has a picture at the top her blog of a man shouting. And otherwise has done nothing to indicate her sex one way or other. It must be that I'm a pig, even if it's not apparent on the surface, it's a manifestation of my inner piggy.

Are you sure not all men are pigs? Maybe they're all just harboring inner piggies.
