This could have turned out very bad. He could have hit his head or slammed into the corner of the kitchen counter. I just don't see the humor in possibly inflicting serious harm on someone.

From a strictly legal standpoint, the author of the video would be liable for any injuries sustained, and possibly subject to prosecution.

Wow. Those are probably two of the most thoughtless, selfish people I've ever seen. I can understand the frustrations of being treated rudely, but responding in a way that could potentially harm someone is just wrong. Sad they couldn't sit down and talk about their problems.

This was awesome, pure awesome. Rigging up the hidden video camera over and over again was genius. I hope these guys are out there somewhere beating the snot out of each other still. If one decides to sue the other, then I hope someone butters the courtroom floor.

It's really funny when you Darwin your friends. Manslaughter charges when your friend dies from head injuries is also awesomely funny and lead to nice accomodations with neat rec rooms and cool friends if the jury are a bunch of sourpusses. Michael and CMM are completely correct in their assessment. We need more friendly maimings by practical joke. Just be aware that their relatives can get pretty vindictive. ;^)

I laughed, but only because of the (accurate?) set up establishing him as an inconsiderate jerk. How about pranks that don't put people at risk for broken bones, or spinal/head injuries? There must be thousands of ways to get a hysterical reaction from someone without this kind of unpredictably dangerous outcome.
I wonder if these guys have some sort of disorder where they can't differentiate between cartoons and reality. Or did they watch "Home Alone" at too young an age?

I would consider this assault. I think the police would also. To handle a problem in this fashion is ignorant. To view the video of what happens and not realize the potential of hurting someone then doing it again, and again, seems sociopathic.

I didn't watch the video, but the commenters here really need to calm down. It's this kind of over reaction that is getting playgrounds torn up in schools all over America. Next thing you know we'll be padding every hard surface in the house "just in case." Just because something is potentially dangerous doesn't warrant all of these comments about suing, manslaughter charges, and generally just wishing the absolute worst thing you can upon the pranker without wishing him dead.

As I said, I haven't see the video myself, but I think the commenters here care more than the victim.

The level of overreaction to this is staggering. Referring to the person falling as "the victim" is one of the craziest things I have read.
While I personally think that the two people involved are idiots, I also think that the comments point to how safety obsessed, and sue happy, this country has become.

I have younger brothers in college and I assure you each has fallen to or been a part of much worse pranking than this. Let fools be fools for a little while. Don't worry, I do agree that someone could have gotten hurt, and that it wasn't the most intelligent thing to do. I just wonder who had to clean up all that butter. Yikes.

absolutely one of the funniest things ive seen in a while. i actually have tears in my eyes. its like the 3 stooges 2007 style. the rest of you need to lighten up a bit, always worried about the "what ifs". our chief idiot in office didnt worry about what ifs.

This is hillarious..I am a college student at an ivy and we did much worse and illegal things to our buddies...ive wiped out drunk worse than this on concrete nothing shouldve happened plus its hillarious to see this prick not learn his lesson after the first 2 times. I sympathize with his roomates. Everyone has definitely overreacted here must not have lived in a dormimotory.
